Our Creative Space...

There is coming steam from mum's ears... She is working on a very interesting bag which takes hours to cut the felt and embroider.

I'm sure she will cool down once the bag is finished :)

A few more flowers to go before we can make a bag of it, please give her some cheers to motivate her :D

Button Wednesday

After showing you our little collection of buttons, I wanted to show you some of my favorites. My mother bought these more then 30 years ago in Amsterdam, so I've been knowing them my entire life. I don't think we will ever have the heart to use them, they are just too pretty.

Ther are hand painted on wood, I love the combination of the tiny detailed paintings and the wood textures.

Our Creative Space...

Working on some bridal stuff, always big fun to play with materials.

Beside nature, materials are always our biggest inspiration source. Lay them out play with them, and you always get some great results!

The one with the pearls turned out super sweet and romantic, you expect to see it soon in a form of jewelry.

Button Wednesday

I guess collecting is in the DNA of human. Everyone does collect something, except maybe a few minimalistic people.

With buttons it always starts slowly, clothes get old but the buttons survive so you remove them. You pass a shop and love some buttons although you do not need them. You even find them on the street and can't resist them. A bunch of buttons are left from a passed away relative. And then after years you have hundreds of buttons.

We are not such huge collectors as Petronella, but we are proud of our own little collection. Some have been with us as long as I remember, too pretty to be used or just haven't been matched with the perfect purpose yet.

And a little update with our handmade buttons, we have made monogrammed keychains, available in our giftshop :)

Like every summer, after a few months heat, we really miss rain. Unfortunatly we still have some months to go for rain season to start, so for now I'm trying to catch the feeling through Etsy...

Etsy Meeting Istanbul

As promised, a blogpost about my trip to Istanbul. I went by bus which was a bit of a torture, 12,5 hours so I had a bit of a painful bumm :) To make the trip shorter the bus goes on a boat for 40 minutes, close to istanbul to avoid some trafic. Seagulls were following us all the way. There was also an amazing amount of huge jellyfishes in the sea, never saw something like that but didn't manage to picture them.

My main reason for this trip was the Etsy meeting but before that I made a nice boat trip and also did some supply shopping (hard to avoid that!!).

Kız kulesi also known as the Tower of Leandros...

Only a small part of the huge city.

One of the two bridges which connects the European side of Istanbul to the Asian side.

Istanbul has alot of history, in every corner and alley you can discover pieces of history. Old mosques, churches, ruines, buildings, a never ending place to discover new things every day.

It was a pleasure to meet Kristin aka Evihan, and see her shop and beautiful creations in real.

Kristin's work space, with all those gorgeous colors of glass.

And a peek in her shop, if you can't come to Istanbul, you can enjoy her work on Etsy.

And the Etsy meeting....

Etsy admin Marie was very kind and patient with all those chatty ladies :)

Some ladies had printed Etsy flags, name tags, had arranged the location and also some lovely home made cookies.

And a real Etsy cake was the icing on the top, thank you girls for a lovely evening, it was great meeting you all!

Etsy admin Marie and me.

Looking very much forward to another meeting.

Our Creative Space...

While having a nice warm up with the macrame basket, and some left over from the thread we've used. I desided to make some straps for bags with macrame.
I didn't thought it would take so long to make it, but the result is even better then I hoped for!

I sewed the ends with some fake leather for strength. This will become a nice bag when we use it. I'll be making more in between as it is quiet a zen job; head on zero and just knot away :)

Button Wednesday

We are having fun with our button machine, experimenting with all kind of materials.
The results are fun too, little pieces with lovely details.

Mum made some ribbon embroidered buttons, we have attended ribbon embroidery lessons a few years ago and used this technique with different kind of things. The results are almost 3 dimentional and pretty fast compaired to normal embroidery.

Mess is also an important factor while creating :)

The results are super cute and romantic buttons, use one to adorn for a bag, blouse, jewelry and you are ready to go! They will be available in our supply shop today.

You can find more buttons here.
