With the quite sudden announcement of Trump announcing the removal of the de minimis exemption, small businesses all over the world are not entirely sure what to do. As we sell on a US based website, alot of our customers are from the US. Unfortunately as the removal of the duty free purchase rule below 800$ has been removed without giving postal services a chance to set up a system, the next 6 months they will charge a flat rate of 80$ for all our packages (this is because we are based in Turkey, other countries are charged for as much as 200$ per package). While this charge is doable for items of above 500$, smaller items just won't make any sense. Some shipping couriers are offering Delivered Duty Paid (DDP) which would mean l would have to pay 15% upfront plus l would have to use a much more expensive shipping company and if packages are declined/ returned l would have to pay a huge charge. So for the next 6 months we most likely won't be shipping any small items to the US unless the customer is okay with paying the tariffs. After January 2026 they will be starting to charge in percentages % which will be more reasonable.
Coincidentally, we had planned a trip to the US before all this went down, so small purchases till September 1 will be shipped through USPS from the US without tariffs, so grab your very last chance while you can!! ~~~~~DEADLINE SEPTEMBER 1ST!!!!~~~~~~
P.s. the earrings are available at StaroftheEast
