AI for product photos

I'm trying AI out a little for some hard-to-photograph items. While I will keep normal photos mostl, I want to add 1 or 2 photos created by AI to showcase pieces like furniture in houses to give a better idea of how they look in a home.

I'm very happy with the two I started with, created by Chatgpt, and I hope I will get a better hang of it, sometimes it doesn't seem to understand me :))

The photos I took will also remain. I'm not trying to sell an illusion but I'm happy how professional the other photos look, don't you agree?

Both furniture pieces are available at StarHomeStudio

Newly Listed: Delft Blue Embroidered Ottoman

I absolutely adore this pouf. It reminds me of a porcelain plate because the embroidery on top and the monochrome colors of blue and cream. It also reminds me of this 94 year old lady painting a Czech village, I added a few photos of her, her name is Agnes Kasparkova and she has been painting the Czech village of Louka for years in her free time.

About the ottoman; the top is a vintage Eastern European hand embroidery done on linen. It has blue piping, a gorgeous woven striped linen on the side and a vintage trim on the bottom. I built the ottoman from scratch with reclaimed wood and vintage feet, l painted the feet and bottom to match the embroidery.

The embroidery might be from the same region, it is so similar.

We can all hope to be so active and talented at 94 years old!

The ottoman is a true one of a kind, available at StarHomeStudio

Some Finished Furniture Pieces

I've been pretty busy with some new furniture pieces lately. If you've seen my previous blogpost you might have seen the skirt made with a vintage gobelin tapestry. We've been making such skirts for years but never used it for furniture.

We decided to give these chairs a makeover with tapestries, and look how beautiful they turned out. A far cry from when I found them with fake thorn leather and wonky legs.

Each chair is done with different tapestries, making each unique but they do match together. Even though we did not use fairytale themed tapestries like we often do for skirts they still remind me of fairytales.

After all I think almost all old fairytales have woodland environments, little red riding hood meets the olf in the forest. Snowwhite finds the hut of the dwarfs in the forest, Hansel and Gretel also got lost in a forest so yes no wonder.

I'm utterly delighted with how they turned out and of course, the fact that I saved three chairs from ending up in the landfill is a very important bonus.

I'm curious where they'll end up, I'm sure they'll fancy any space up as they are beautiful from all sides.

All three are available among many other unique furniture pieces at StarHomeStudio.

Something that somehow took me 18 months to finish was this 1930s room divider. It had no fabric and the wood was in a bad shape.

The paint was stubborn and I ended up buying a new sander as our old one was just not up to the job. Somehow stuff came in between but I'm glad it is now finished and looking maybe even better than it originally was as I used a vintage kilim instead of some fabric.

I did not cover the backside of the Kilim so the many hours of work can be admired.
The wood looks like new after sanding for many hours, staining, and oiling as the wood was very dry. I wish I had the space for it, I would have kept it for myself if I did! Also available at StarHomeStudio.
You can see a short video of the various it steps it went through on my Instagram.

Happy New Year, Happy New Ottoman!

Happy New Year everyone! Boy what a year! I don't thnk the first 6 months of 2021 is going to be any better as long as there are selfish and uncareful people around this pandemic is going to take a while.

But enough of the negativity! We ended 2020 by finishing this beautiful and very cheerful ottoman.

Creativity is what is keeping us sane.

I'll be blogging more again now that our new home and workspace is finally getting in to shape. I have to blog about what we have been up to soon, it was much more work and costs than anticipated and we are still not completly done but we are getting there.

About the ottoman. We wanted to create another funky cat ottoman as we sold the previous one we made. To match the green and black cat we created a green and black velvet patchwork which took a crazy amount of time to create.

The cats are vintage embroidery.

The pouf was a vintage brown piece that I painted in a fun way in matching colors.

This piece makes me happy, that's a good start of this year. As we are in a 3 days lock down (to prevent New Years celebrations) I think it is going to be a creative and inspiring weekend!

How was your New Years Eve?
