Weekend Road trip

We went for a little road trip this Sunday. It was in the same providence we live but almost a 2 hour drive. Bodrum is especially a popular vacation destination for locals as there is an airport close by, lots of beaches and an active night life in the Summer. 

But now in March it was perfect, we came across these Flamingos in the wetlands.

With all the hate, war and craziness in the world, I too wish I could stick my head underwater and only focus on food and nothing else. 

It was all very peaceful as they are quiet birds.

We also went to a Flea market, picked up some cool Facebook Marketplace finds and even saw a boat race.

The castle in the middle of the city gave some magical vibes.

And I loved coming across this beautiful old carousel.

We had perfect Spring weather with 20 degrees celsius, and felt rejuvenated but tired at the end of the day :)

Our Creative Space...

 

It has been ages since I last shared our creative space, but with this exciting new tool I wanted to share this. I got a 100 litre compressor (the one I use for upholstery is only 25 litre) and a tank that holds sand, aka a sandblaster. With this technique you can sand intricate and carved pieces in a short time.

You do have to gear up a lot, and it is quite messy with sand flying all over the place. I purchased a net in the hope of containing it all better next time.

I doubt that I will be able to do it in the summer as the gear makes it hot, and short sleeves won't be smart, so I will sand everything that needs sanding before the hot months start.

The first piece I sanded was this wooden mannequin arm, It had two good layers of paint, by hand it would have taken me at least two hours, with the sandblaster about 10 minutes and it got it so much cleaner than I would ever get.

I will also be using it for carved furniture, can't wait to see how that will go :)

Music Room Decor

The moment I saw these Bugles in a thriftshop while traveling through Florida, I knew they would be perfect to turn in to wall sconces.

I think they would look awesome in a moody music room, or any normal room of course.

They are vintage pieces so have signs of their age which I like.

I needed to motify them with some drilling, soldering and wiring but got there in the end :) They are available in our home shop.

Here are some more home decor pieces made out of vintage instruments.

These wings made out of Piano keys might be my favorite.

Drums turned into a coffee table.

A Piano turned into a bookshelf, when a piano is unsalvageable I like the idea of reclaiming it.

LP stools, simple yet very cool.
