Our Creative Space...

Mum has been in the flower factory almost the entire week, creativity is addictive as you all know. After the sunflowers of last week she is now busy with roses...

You can find the sunflowers in our giftshop!

As for me? Not much creativity going on, I'm busy with fever, coughing and producing a nice amount of snot, yuck...

No, I don't miss summer and I don't miss the sun, we just said goodbye two days ago. As soon as winter time started weather changed too and there is a huge amount of rain falling down, perfect for the thirsty earth and trees.

I wanted a peaceful mosaic, calm and green and somehow it turned out sunny too...

Laundry and Blogging

It is funny how things go. More then 2 years ago mum told me she wanted to start blogging, a little outlet to ramble. It suprised me as my mother is not a chatty person, and beside all the blogs she reads, she reads as a lurker as she is too shy to comment, cute hey? So I set up this blog and she wrote her things and I posted them. I must say that it was not a love at first sight situation for me with Blogland, I actually found it a bit useless and nonsense.

After about 6 months with a blogpost per week I started to see the world and our life in a different way. I mean things we see here daily are not so normal for others in far away countries. This thought made us both see things more, and my camera is usually with me to capture those moments and to share here with you and our lovely readers. After that I started to get addicted with blogging and I love seeing and reading other blogs, especially the more personal or creative ones, to feed my curiosity of people's life's.

So here we are after more then two years still blogging and loving it. And what are these pictures? Well something I wouldn't think about picturing if we hadn't our blog. These are our mops, each day we use a clean one and at the end of the week they all go together in the washing machine. Mops are a hell to keep clean so this is a nifty system and here hanging on the washing line is just a fun view we wanted to share.
Thank you all for reading our blog, and for your sweet comments in the past 2 years, we will be here for hopefully many more...

Our Creative Space...

So what happened? A Hurricane? A Tornado? Oh wait it was my (super)mum...

She has never been good at basketball...

And somehow she is always complaining about cleaning things up, I wonder why...

And now you might wonder why oh why was all this mess needed... Well it is pretty but compaired to the huge mess pretty small, a fabric flower.

Etsy discovery: ManyaKotlin

A few weeks ago we discovered manyakotlin's artwork on Etsy. Her work is made in a very unusual way, this is how she explaines her work method: ' The image is scratched on cardboard, in a way similar to how etchings are made, and then oil paints are rubbed in literally by hand. The work becomes highly polished and deep in colors like a precious stone.'
These images don't do her work justice, we purchased the original of the image above and in real life it is really amazing!

And here some other pieces of her shop, they have a little Sci-Fi atmophere but also an old feeling, a bit of the past and a bit of the future, just amazing!

Manya is originally from Russia, St.Petersburg, and has a Russian diploma of graphic design. For the past 18 years she has been living in the USA. She is now busy with her four year old boy, her artistical work and is planning to make a childrens book with her husband who does visual poetry at his free time and they make books together.

The images should be enough to convince you to drop by her shop!!

The Colors of Food

We went to Muğla yesterday and although we where not there for buying veggie's, I took pictures of them because of the gorgeous colors and mixture. The picture above is of some poor villagers who do not have much to sell but try to earn some little extra with the goods they produced in their little garden.

The richer sellers have more to offer and also sell dried peppers, aubergine and gumbo's, a pleasure for the eyes. When these are cheaper people dry them for the expensive winter period, after they are dried you can use them for months and months.

If you look closely at the picture here under you will discover an evil eye between the dried goods :)

Hope you came by with a full stomach...
