I was looking for something totally different when I came across the chicken. I loved it so much that I just had to use it and started to look for shabby cottage. I love how some people decorate their homes in that style, although there is a line to cross that it becomes too pink and crowded.
Mum has a huge weakness for enameled old items and a love for teapots so I guess I just had to put one of those, as I grew up seeing those.

See more mosaics at ArtMind's blog, you can join the game, it's fun!

  2. Also love shabby cottage chic! Altough I like to keep cleaner lines (and definitely no cluttered pink!) ;)

  6. I push myself to like more modern lines, but I have to say that I have a weakness for the shabby style especially the deco of the cottages in provence!
it has such a romantic twist!

  7. Great finds! Adding a little shabby chic to your home can add warmth and coziness. I prefer more clean lines but I do like to mix things up. I especially love those enamel pots.

  8. I agree with the shabby chic style - it's giving a place more of a 'home-feeling' I think. :)

  9. You made me giggle - there is indeed a line and some people just see the line as a challenge. ;)

  10. I was just going to get angry because I have NOW a 'feed' for when people just blog or steal my photos on Flickr without asking me.... but then I saw your lovely post and I forgave you immediately... :)

You are right, shabby chic, and especially cottage chic, has become a very addictive and thought after new thing. I guess it's because our lives have become quite complicated and should be run efficiently, so our souls yearn to have some innocence, nostalgie and just plain kitsch around us.
My homes always were a mirror to this, full of flowers, little things to make me smile and this cockerel which really cracked me up when I saw it outside a small shop for home spun articles in my soul's hometown Lutry in Switzerland.....

You posted a fine mosaic - it says a lot about you - and I like it!

Greetings from outside Paris - Kiki :)
