Palm Tree Inspiration

Yesterday while working in our atelier I noticed something funny in our view.

See that little shadow on the palm tree?

Zooming in closer you see that it is a reptile, enjoying the sun and view.

Coincidentally I was working on a necklace with palm tree bark. This is skeletonized bark, the palm tree's trunk is made with layers and layers of this, quite intriguing.

The necklace is made with two layers of beautiful glass with the bark sandwiched in between. I then copper foiled and soldered the layers together and patina'ed it black for extra deepness.

I've made some more of this kind of necklaces all with natural found objects so keep an eye out for more to come :) The first necklace is listed here.

Quality Inspection

Mimi has been glued to me ever since her sister Lili passed away. She keeps me under surveillance 24/7 but also keeps an eye on the door like she is waiting for Lili to come through that door.
As she is always with me I thought she could make herself useful by giving her the job of quality inspector, and she has been taking her task very seriously.

*sniff sniff*

'a bit rusty'... she said

'it seems solid'

'a bit rustic for my taste, but others will like it, I give it my OK'

Yes, she is not easily satisfied but that is how an inspector is suppose to be :)
