New Chapter

Life goes on. You can have the worst 2 months of your life, loose the most precious person you have and still you can live on.

I'm doing okay, getting used to my new life, donating my mums clothes, trying to start to work again, I'm taking it one day at a time. Friends are checking up on me, which means a lot.

This scarf is bitter sweet, it is the last piece my mum knitted and she actually hadn't finished it because she got ill. I knitted the last few rows in the hospital with her guidance, she felt bad that it was not finished. She passed away 10 days later.

Trying to make my last post of the year a positive one. I remember back in the beginning of October that 2025 had been a good year for me. Not a good year for humanity, but personally, mine had been good. And then Mum got sick and it turned in my worst year ever.

For 2026 I'm planning to travel more and live more, life is too short to not live fully.

The other day l went to the beach to photograph the scarf l shared on my last post, some very cool vintage sailboat bookends, l also grabbed two bags that needed some new photos.

I there found a whole bunch of barnacles, something you don't find here often. I found a perfectly round one which l used for this ring.

Accompanied with a pearl and a sea urchin. One thing my mum said in the hospital was 'I'm so sad that I won't see all the beautiful things you will make from now on'. This is the first piece l made since she is gone, l think she would have loved it, what do you think?

Happy New Year, everyone!

Get the Look Vol.19

Hand shaped door knockers originated in Muslim countries and symbolize the Hand of Fatima (recognized and used as a sign of protection as Evil Eye, just like the Hamsa).
We have two of these in the shop, beautiful solid brass vintage pieces, ready to give your door some character.

Don't you just love the textures of baskets? They give a rustic beach/ cottage vibe and can have a purpose too. Ours has a lovely stripe here and there giving it some extra color. These are great for couch throws storage, to cover ugly plastic plant pots, storage for logs for the fireplace etc.

Maybe this many swans is a little too much, although a lot of things do look more fun when grouped.
This little swan dish is a beautifully delicate piece made by Fitz And Floyd from 1981.

I hate hunting trophies and taxidermy but naturally found curiosities are always cool. We find some really cool bones on the beach, sometimes we don't even know what kind they are. This skull is of a wild boar, we have lots of them in the woods, and at night they come out in search of food.

While they look a lot alike the lamp above is electric and has a vintage look, while ours below is the real vintage deal. Both are very cool, perfect for a rustic or steampunk vibe.

Who says that beach vibes need to be blue, pink looks pretty beachy too.
Love the lovely shell print above, our pink beach decor is a beautiful vintage enamel piece from the brand Bovano of Cheshire, an atelier in Connecticut making only enamel pieces.

Beach and Bags

We went to the beach yesterday, funny enough we hardly go to the beach during the Summer.
It is just too hot to stay long and too crowded to actually find something or to enjoy it as much as we enjoy it during the Winter months.

I had just finished two beach totes so used the opportunity to take pictures of them on the beach :)

While the views are gorgeous we were frustrated by how much garbage people leave behind once they had their day on the beach, it seems people come to eat and do not care about the mess they leave behind :(

About the totes; they are made of linen and have machine embroidered anchors. The straps are upcycled leather, riveted to the bag. They have a fun anchor charm for a fun finishing touch.

The heat has gotten to me this year, and I am looking forward to cooler times when the beaches are ours again, calm and clean.

Both anchor bags are available at StarBags.

Vintage Oars Decor ideas

I've listed two sets of vintage oars, one set is this beautiful pair.

Which you could hang above a bed, like found here.

I love the subtle stripe of this pair, it is done with a different type of wood.

I love the Nautical vibe of this hallway!

Hanging them above the couch in the living room is also a fun idea, you could hang a whole collection like that.

The other set of oars is a set of three widowed oars. They are gorgeous but lost their other half and are now happy with the three of them :)

You could use them separately, one as a stair hand rail.

Ours each have different lengths and colors making them a fun set.

As curtain rods they look very cool too, and here is a step by step on how to do that yourself.

Our oars still have all the fun details, making them genuinely nautical :)

I love this composition of sea related items together. This could be done anywhere in the house and could be changed when you get new findings.

You can also use all three together, and maybe add more in time.

You can also add them as accents above windows or doors.

There is also a coat rack in the shop made out of an oar that we found on the beach.
