Akyaka

Akyaka is a cute little coastal town just a half hour drive from our town.

It is especially popular among local tourists and College students from Mugla University as it is close by and there is no sea in Mugla it is a perfect weekend escape spot for them.

I went when it was not crowded yet, unfortunately it gets a bit too busy for my taste during the Summer so usually Spring and Fall is best.

These Geese had some issues among each other I think it was who is the boss contest.

One actually charged directly at me but I didn't budge so it lost interest right away :D

There are little boat trips you can take through the waters, which eventually end up at sea.

The water is super clear, I unfortunately had no underwater camera with me that day, will have to remember for my next visit.

Beside ducks and geese there were also a few beautiful dragonflies.

Akyaka has a very windy part of beach, and it is therefor very popular to Wind surf.

The local folk make a living with tourism and fish, and at a lot of places both are seen together. Some fishermen actually sell directly freshly made fish sandwiches from a boat.

And the sunsets are always amazing here, if you are in the neighbor hood, worth a visit :)

Peaceful Sunday

With all the horrible things that happened the last few days in Turkey, a peaceful Sunday was just what we needed. Ankara is very far away from us, but even in our town people are on strike, a silent cry against the government. On November 1st we will have elections again as they have not been able to establish the government with all the conflicts between political parties. The world is far from world peace, I wonder if we will ever get there.

I would love to own this little island, without politics, guns and hate. Surrounded with like minded creative people, I sound like a hippie, I know but the phrase make love not war is close to my heart :)

We had a little walk, and I always love the wild flowers and berries we discover between the bushes, they are so beautiful. Even though it is mid October we still in the 30-35 degrees Celsius here (86-95 F). And nature is still acting like it is Spring, leaves are not falling yet.

The only thing that makes it feel like Winter is approaching are berries, I loved this natural garland here below, made out of berries.

We then went to our favorite place for dinner, where we usually go for brunch on Sundays. It is close to the water and there is always something going on. Like the water turtles and fishes I've shown before, goats and ducks and interesting birds.

This time we all of a sudden heard some loud water sounds and saw that a whole bunch of cows were crossing over. It was getting dark so they were heading home, without any human guidance, they clearly knew the way.

It was quite something to see them cross like that, they knew exactly where the water was low.

After the cows were gone another gang approached us.

They came in such a way that it reminded us of the Jets from the WestSide Story, I actually sang their song while they approached, you know; 'When you're a Jet, you're a Jet all the way, from your first cigarette till your last dying day' :)

But while they acted like gang members all they were interested in was sharing our meal, which we did of course.

Mad Hatter's Tea Party

Yesterday we had a lovely outdoors breakfast near the water, in the forest surrounded by mountains, these kind of luxuries are one of the things we love about living here :)

As it was not weekend yet we were the only customers, and apparently that left some folk hungry. Before any food arrived we got some company, clearly waiting for breakfast like we were.

Then some reinforcement arrived, like they got a text message saying 'breakfast is coming, meet me at table 4' from the other duck.

Then the staring competition started...

And some more company arrived.

Turtles are apparently also great in staring.

So good actually that if you had food in your mouth you would take it out and give it to them...

The turtle also called for some reinforcement...

Eventually there were 6 turtles...

And when breakfast did arrive, competition became fierce and strong.

But the ducks, turtles and fishes all caught their food in peaceful harmony.

Now that the guests were fed we could eat ourselves, yummmm.

Surrounded in green, with some cats...

And a chicken...

All of a sudden the ducks were making a lot of noise, I first thought that maybe a big fish was nibbling on their feet.

But soon it became clear that it was one of the seven sins, lust :)

One fella almost drowned the lady while trying to do some monkey business, and when he didn't manage it...

...another one pushed him off and finished the job.

The winner was very proud of himself and made some macho moves after the free porn show (which was, may I add, very short ) was over.

It was quite the show with all these critters, it felt like the Mad Hatter's tea party :)
