A little Road Trip; Nysa Ancient City

 

The other day we went for a little road trip for some vintage shopping. But we always try to make it a little vacation as well, there are so many places to visit here. 

We have an incredible amount of poppies this year, fields full of them, at the side of the roads, everywhere. They are usually there for just a week or two so I'm so happy l got to capture these cows in such a field.

It is also the time of year that storks come to have their babies. I one village that we past literally every electricity pole had a nest with a stork inside. 

I love that little birds make use of the huge nests and that storks mate for life and come find each other every year.

We also came across a tiny old abandoned mosque, abandoned buildings are not very uncommon but l can't remember to ever come across a mosque like this. 

She was a beauty inside and out, don't you just love abandoned places?

And after our little shopping we went to the ancient ruins of Nysa.

A gorgeous place with an amphitheater and many other ruïnes all spread out in a very green mountain. 

Except for a few cows there was no one there, perfect. It was quite a magical day, l was glad l took my camera to capture it 😊

Peaceful Sunday

With all the horrible things that happened the last few days in Turkey, a peaceful Sunday was just what we needed. Ankara is very far away from us, but even in our town people are on strike, a silent cry against the government. On November 1st we will have elections again as they have not been able to establish the government with all the conflicts between political parties. The world is far from world peace, I wonder if we will ever get there.

I would love to own this little island, without politics, guns and hate. Surrounded with like minded creative people, I sound like a hippie, I know but the phrase make love not war is close to my heart :)

We had a little walk, and I always love the wild flowers and berries we discover between the bushes, they are so beautiful. Even though it is mid October we still in the 30-35 degrees Celsius here (86-95 F). And nature is still acting like it is Spring, leaves are not falling yet.

The only thing that makes it feel like Winter is approaching are berries, I loved this natural garland here below, made out of berries.

We then went to our favorite place for dinner, where we usually go for brunch on Sundays. It is close to the water and there is always something going on. Like the water turtles and fishes I've shown before, goats and ducks and interesting birds.

This time we all of a sudden heard some loud water sounds and saw that a whole bunch of cows were crossing over. It was getting dark so they were heading home, without any human guidance, they clearly knew the way.

It was quite something to see them cross like that, they knew exactly where the water was low.

After the cows were gone another gang approached us.

They came in such a way that it reminded us of the Jets from the WestSide Story, I actually sang their song while they approached, you know; 'When you're a Jet, you're a Jet all the way, from your first cigarette till your last dying day' :)

But while they acted like gang members all they were interested in was sharing our meal, which we did of course.

Great Expectations

In the summer we don't find many urchins, so we went on expedition in the hope to discover a new finding place.

We had a Google map with us, but it was pretty useless. There is a myriad of this kind of dirt roads, leading from nowhere to nowhere else.

As always, as soon as you see the coast, it is breath taking.

Most of those little bays are unaccesible by land, though.

In more than 4 hours we didn't see an other human being.

Some signs of humans were present, though. In a deserted bay, somebody with inflated expectations had put some pots of honey on a table with euro prices and instructions in turkish to put the money under the stone.Maybe one day a tourist will comply.

The fishing boat was also deserted.

The person who built this handsome bridge had really great expectations. It leads from a dirt road with no trafic what so ever to a piece of land where in the distance is some bunting and a big sign saying 'restaurant'. Nothing else.

Surrealistic in the best of ways.

We followed this mother and daughter team for a while.

They lead us to their favorite cove.

A small herd convened there.

One of the girls seemed to be getting pretty attached to me.

I got squeamish, not being familiar with cows ways and all the ladies having babies with them. But probably she only wanted a scratch between the ears, like the doggies.

They were rather king size cows.

Finally we both got to our own beach combing.

The sun was scorching, btw, but they were as foolhardy as german tourists.

We didn't find any urchins, but had a great day!
