Zero Waste, Lots of Pretty

We finally finished these cushions we have planned and been making for a while.
Just like this bag and this ottoman these are made with upcycled fabric strips, knitted into fabric.

They get a pretty texture and blending of color like some kind of abstract painting.

The backside is made with patchworked fabric, pieces of fabrics taken from catalogs, the buttons are made of the same fabric. Making these cushions completely zero waste and very eco friendly, not to mention very pretty :)

We keep knitting these fabrics to re use them and to shrink our stash of rags, but it doesn't seem to get less at all :)

We can make them in other colors or different sizes.

Available at StarHomeStudio.

Our Creative Space...

While we're always busy creating I haven't been sharing much creative progress lately.
This pillow however took so many steps that I remembered to take some pictures.
First I made three petal patterns and drawn them on the fabric. I then folded the fabric double and added polyfil under the fabric layers and sewn those three layers together.

I then turned all the leaves inside out and the polyfil filled the petals up, I sew the petals close to that no polyfil would peek out.

I then did the same for the leaves but used a thinner polyfil, I also sewn some leaf nerves for some extra detail and sewn them on a circle in such a way that the leaves where like a bowl to hold the rose nicely together.

The rose petal were too thick to sew them together by machine so I had to sew everything together by hand, but I'm very happy with the result!

It took a ridiculous amount of hours for just a pillow but I guess it was also because it was my first.

The pretty cushion is available n our decor shop, StarHomeStudio.

Monday Moodboard

1. Varm  2. MatkirschPhoto  3. aarghh  4. EarthLab

I somehow managed to catch a flu. Spent most of the time in bed this weekend and still not feeling superb, so here a moodboard with socks (first time after months that I have worn them!), a pillow, fluffy clouds and a bacteria brooch.
Wishing you all a healthy Monday!

RULES: Feature your fellow EuropeanStreetTeam mates by making a mosaic. You can add your link here so that others can see it! Please only add your link if the mosaic features Team mates!

Please link back to this blogpost so that everyone can check the other Monday Moodboards.

Our Creative Space...

There is not much that can stop us from creating, not even Christmas :)

We had some nice quiet days with  embroidery projects, this is one of them, another candle wicking pillow.

We both did pieces, so we took turns and it was finished pretty fast that way. At the same time we finished two bags as we both each made a bag while the other took her turn :)

It has quilted details so a beautiful 3d effect.

Flickr Favorites

Mum can't quit smocking!! these past two weeks she has been hooked and as I help her a little I see honeycombs dancing in front of my eyes :) I found some lovely pictures while searching for smocked on Flickr, especially Tinctory has a beautiful photostream.

Our latest result is this sweet bag, for the romantic souls:

Friday Findings: Cushions & Pillows

Every time when I'm looking for the Friday Findings, there are often hundreds of pages on the subject. This is really a great excuse to scroll through Etsy and find great things. But when I'm looking for the blog (and also treasuries) it is not only the item I'm looking at, actually more important then that are the pictures of the items. I have seen some gorgeous things but didn't include them as the maker didn't take enough time to show her/ his product perfectly. So this reminds me once and again that not only your items have to be great, but also your pictures, to attract people to feature your items and purchase them.
