Get the Look Vol.5
A little different Get the Look this time. The inspiration is my own picture and I decided to look up all the props I used :)
The shelves are from our shop, this is made out of two pieces so it can be used differently like bed side tables for example.
If you don't have enough color themed books, they are actually available in bundles arranged in color.
But if you like this look, here is what I found:
This beautiful vintage clock from AtelierVintage25.
Love this cute little globe from thelittlebiker. This one is cute too, and here another one and you have a collection of three :).
Here is a cute wooden train, mine is vintage from a flee market in Amsterdam and I have had the bus since childhood, I found a bus on Etsy too including passengers :)
I found the exact same ship as ours, only this one is not painted which I might like even more than our painted version :)
And finally a cute planter with a cute plant and you've got the look :)

Garden Projects
Just before things got a mess and hectic we had some garden projects done. This is between the house and the wall between our neighbors, and it is also our front door which you can not see but it is there.
We pass this part of the garden very often but because of the doggies we never were able to plant anything as they love digging at particular this part of the garden. There were always holes, we put pots on the earth but they just dug around them.
We finally bought some low fences and planted hydrangeas. It is the perfect spot for them as hardly any sun comes in this part of the garden which is very rare around here as we have such long, hot and sunny Summers.
Shortly after planting them we had to go to Spain, I was afraid that they would not survive it but luckily this year Summer arrived a little late and mildly and they survived the week without water, yaaay!
We always wanted to have hydrangeas there but they are pretty expensive in our floral shop. But then I scored them for less than 1/4 of the price at a farmer's market so I could buy 8 of them for less than I would have paid for 2 in our town, and they are actually better too so I was thrilled :)
Remember the path that we made during the Winter? It really made things easier. No more muddy feet while going to the shed which is our laundry room, and also no more water goes to waste as it all goes to the plants now. However the left side of the path was too narrow to mow and I thought it would be fun to have some plants there. With again the help of the low fences to prevent the doggies from digging, they love digging up freshly planted plants, a cute corner emerged. Once things are full grown it will look better but still I am happy with the results :)
With a tall pot and a plate on top we also made a bird bath/ drinking place which is a success as we have birds visiting us throughout the day to have a drink which is lovely to watch.
My succulent collection has also grown lately, mostly by propagating the existing ones. I love this corner :)
Usually most people think that planting and gardening is for Spring but you can actually continue throughout the Summer till early Fall with most plants as long as you water them enough they will be fine. Do you love working with dirt and plants?

Succulent Love
I am a sucker for succulent plants. Especially in the hot Summers we have here they are perfect, they don't die if you forget to water them for a while and they are equally pretty during the entire year. (Image above from: HappyInteriorBlog)
Last year I tried to propagate some with the technique to lay leaves on top of dirt, although many seem to use this technique mine was a complete failure. I now just stick the leaves or branches in the dirt and usually something pretty comes out of it without any hassle.
Ever since we have been beach treasure hunters we come across a nicely drilled stone from time to time. Some are drilled completely through, which I blogged about a while back, but some have nice deep holes making them perfect for planters. I have been using a few my self, but now decided to put some in our decor shop for others to enjoy too.
Taking these pictures was fun, although they took ages, the plants look adorable with these rough natural stones.
As the holes are not very large these planters are only good for succulents, cactus and air plants as they do not require much or any water. Roots won't be able to grow much keeping the plants adorably small and cute but healthy (tested and approved).
These pictures make me super cheerful, I love plant pictures, I guess that is why my Botanical and Flora pinboard is always fresh with new plants, if you are a plant lover too you might want to follow it :) A few of the planters are available in the StarHomeStudio shop, and I will slowly add more.
p.s. No plant was in any way harmed, damaged or killed during this photo shoot. All branches were cut from large succulents and are now planted to become their own little plants :)

Raindrops Gathering
After an extremely hot October and November we finally had some very rainy days. Actually the amount of rain can get a bit overwhelming after months of dryness days of water pouring down, but once the sun starts shining again every thing seems green, fresh and lush and the air smells deliciously earthy.
Somehow on these rainy days I always feel like making a cloud, or two. I usually make small, medium and large sized driftwood clouds but sometimes when we find a very large suitable piece I make an extra large one. Actually the last one I made in such a size was last year, but finally this week I found a nice big piece and made a super large cloud with it right away.
I found it ridiculous to water the garden in November but as it was pretty hot and dry the garden got a little sad, it is now happy again :)
The other day it was cloudy but not raining for a bit and I took some pictures of new items. But the sun was playing hide and seek and with every few pictures the sun came out making the pictures with to much shade, so when the sun came out I took pictures of the plants with their pretty captured raindrops, and when the sun hided again I took pictures of the items I wanted to list, it was a fun game :)
I love how the plants keep hold on those precious drops and drink them slowly.
In the mean time my big cloud turned out wonderful, I can completely imagine it hanging on the head side of a bed making it a perfect dreaming place :)
This extra large beauty is now available in our decor shop, among with smaller driftwood clouds.
What do you love most about the rain?
